Hej,
Anyone of you guys living in the colder areas have experienced that the windshield washer stop working?

I was suspecting the heated spray nozzles not heating up.

Took it to the VW dealer and they tested the washer fluid and claims the freezing point of the fluid was zero degrees,
Something I have trouble do digest, And also trouble to explain..

anyone had similar problems in the cold?

Not had any problems so far during the few days we have had our car. Have used the washer several times in temperatures between -3 to - 8 celsius without problems.

Yeah winter washer fluid should be able to handle temperatures well below freezing, without the need for heated nozzles. Sounds more like an issue with the pump itself or perhaps the lines being pinched. I noticed in other cars that you need to play close attention to the location of the washer lines when opening/closing the hood.

Problem solved, (maybe).

Turned out that there was a problem with the washer fluid tank itself.
Washer fluid was draining out of the tank and melting water was leaking into the tank, and therefore lowering the freezingpoint of the washer fluid.
So after 4-5 visits to the VW dealer we found the problem and they replaced the tank.

The leakage was quite extensive, but in the winter I didn't notice the water pooling up under the car.
Still don't think the heated nozzles actually are activated or working correctly, and the VW dealer have problems to try it out when it is warm outside, but as Lucien writes, the heated nozzles should not be needed if the washer fluid is correct.
Now I have to wait until next winter to see if it works or not.

Regards from Sweden.
