Paintwork!

Hi everyone,

My arteon is barely 6 months old and the paint is bubbling in the centre of the roof front, where it meets the screen.
Having owned a Phaeton I'm fully aware of how dodgy the paintwork on VWs can be. The advantage this time is that it's all covered under the warranty. It goes to the paintshop next week for assessment. I'll keep you informed.
Dealership said it was the first they'd seen with bubbling in this area, but they'd seen a few with problems further back.

Sorry to hear that your new car is already experiencing some paint defects. Hope this isn't found out to be a wide ranging issue for the Arteon. What color is your car? Wonder if its more problematic on certain finishes.
It might not be anything to do with the actual paint quality. Maybe from the time it left the plant till it got in your hands something happened.
Sometimes at dealerships fluids like brake fluid get on the paint mistakenly, possibly causing this. Not 100% sure.
My arteon is black. It's the same colour as my old phaeton. I'll see what they say at the bodyshop. Booked in on Monday.
VW Arteon has been one of my favourite VW cars and it still is to this day. A clean car says a lot about its owner. But beyond first impressions, regular care of your vehicle's exterior can help increase its longevity and value. This is why I totally understand your concerns about the paintwork of your car. I would say that you need to wash your car regularly-at least once or twice a month-to clean off things like bugs, bird droppings, or salt. If not washed off in time, any of these things can leave permanent stains and this will ultimately damage the paint of the car. I think that if the guys from the paintshop are as professional as those from https://alextrendpainters.ie/, you have nothing to worry about.
