Hi everyone,

Just signed up for the forum having traded in my old beast (59 plate Phaeton) and been impressed by a test drive in the Arteon. I bought an ex demo R Line 2 litre TDi (190bhp) in Black with 2500 miles on it. Been really happy with the economy and safety features. I'm a bit disappointed to find out there's an additional cost to activate the voice controls, but I guess I've learned a lesson - next time I'll ask if it's activated before I buy it. Was quoted £265 from the dealer to activate it - cost price apparently! Seems too steep to me.
Has anyone else had it activated? Does this figure sound correct to you?

all the best,

Matt

Welcome to the forum Matthew. Always seem to be costs hidden in the fine print with a new vehicle purchase. If its as simple as making some adjustments through a scanner tool, that does seem a little aggressive. Did they mention what's involved in it?
Welcome
Yeah that sound about right price sure mine was around the £250 mark not alot involved just u buy the activation document from volkswagen and then its activated through odis and volkswagen online.
There is a 3 lined code to imput then its activated with the evhc i was in about an hour.
Only reason i brought it as i had it on my last car and kind of missed the function.
Hope this helps
Voice activation

Thanks guys. I was quoted £250 by Parkway Leicester, which beat the original price I was offered. It's on the list, but it'll have to wait!
Welcome to the forum!

Are you tracking your fuel economy on any sites like Fuelly? It would be great to see those numbers somewhere.

Hi there,

I've been using the Carnet and My VW apps, and generally doing the basic maths. Long-term, the onboard system is showing 52mpg. That would include the dealer's demo miles before I bought it. I'm regularly getting a reported 61mpg, using eco mode and driving at a steady 70mph on motorways. If I drive like an old lady I can improve on that.
From my latest full tank I've so far covered 560 miles and the tank is reading 23 litres (255 mile range) left. I've mainly been motorway driving, but I have driven urban roads a little also. Coming from a Phaeton to the Arteon, If I can get 800 miles from a 66 litre tank I'll be ecstatic!
I'll look into Fuelly.
That mileage seems about right to me and could possibly get better if you were to audit and analyze anything inefficient that takes away from better numbers.

Hi again,

Just a quick update... I got to 750 miles and the range was showing 60 to go. At this point, with it being after midnight, I bottled it and refuelled at the nearest station!
That was 80/20 extra urban/urban.

Really pleased with that though, considering I used to average around 550 miles from a 90 litre tank in the Phaeton.
