My new car registered before delivery

Can't understand how/why a dealer would do that.

I contacted the dealer and they said the car was with them awaiting my collection, two things spring to mind, I wasn’t told it with them, don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t phoned, and secondly why were the tracking details still showing it at the docks, bit of a shambles all round.

If you're using the VW website track my order feature, I was told by their support team that it's not an accurate reflection of the stage your vehicle is at. It's just a token system for customers to get a rough idea of the status of their order. When I checked the status of my car, it had skipped the dock part and went straight to the "with the dealer" stage.

Regarding why you weren't told, it may just be an omission by the dealer.
