I'm an owner of 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. Been driving it for all these 4 years and I love it. A few years ago I thought that my next car is going to be Jetta too, however, I changed my mind after seeing the new Arteon. That's a great car and I hope that it will finally become a member of my family.
Looking forward to talking to you and share our thoughts and opinions!
Cheers

Welcome to the forum! Have you already put in an order for the Arteon after changing your mind?

Glad to see we have someone converting over from the world of Jettas.

What about the Arteon do you like that sealed the deal on this move you made because already there's a lot of things about the Arteon that can pull someone over.
Hopefully you have looked at pricing, not something that all current Jetta owners can stomach.
I haven't ordered it yet. I saw the price of £34,305for the basic model, it isn't something that I expected to spend with Jetta, but I think it's time for me to make another step in the trim level.
The Jetta is great as a vehicle that's good as what it does, give you a decent car for a decent price. But the Arteon has so much ore to offer, though I can't compare it to the new gen Jetta that's not out yet.

Do you think that the launch of the Arteon will make any difference for the new Jetta? What if VW will decide to lower the value of Jetta on purpose, just to highlight Arteon's advantages? or it won't make any sense?

VW won't do that, maybe slightly but haven't ever seen them or any other car maker do that. If anything its healthy for the brand to have both of these models going at once, see which performs better.
Volkswagen has already discontinued the Jetta in the UK's line-up, that's why I thought that they may come up with this idea in the future.

I think what people would consider first instead is the Golf or even the Passat, but the UK has been a key hatch market, pushing harder in that segment is always a good idea. They even have other hatches other markets don't get.
Do you mean that the new Arteon won't be as successful as other hatchbacks on the market?

No but people will consider the Golf or Passat first just due to cost, its closer to the Jetta in price and is a fact that cannot be ignored. Then of course the Arteon comes in as a runner up but that is for the minority of buyers that can afford a large jump in price compared to what they originally wanted.
I think the price point is even more of a deterrent due to the fact the new baseline Jetta is cheaper than that of a Toyota Corolla. It's going to be hard to sway drivers to opt for the high end, when they can get so much value for the price out of the new Jetta.
