Hey guys. Never got the opportunity to introduce myself so here we go. Currently driving an older Passat and really eager to get some seat time in the new Arteon. Really jealous of all the new owners already enjoying theirs across the pond. Thoughts on it so far?

Hi Marcellus and welcome here.

We have had our 2.0TSI R-line 280hp for half a year now, and we are very happy with it. Comfort is great, and we have had no hassels. It is a rather quick car considering it's size. Plenty of space and rather practical. The only thing I do miss is some more low end "grunt", but that can be "solved" by putting it in sport mode (you don't get more low end "grunt", but it will stay in a little higher rews).

I would think the Arteon will be a nice upgrade from your older Passat. The Arteon has loads of "technical stuffs" that works very well. Fuel echonomy with this engine depends a lot of how you drive it. I have seen 38 mpg (US) on longer trips on country roads, down to less than 20 mpg in city driving.

Best of luck in finding the right Arteon for you when it is available on your side of the pond.

Thanks for joining up Marcellus, glad to have you. Although the recent delay is a disappointment, I think this is the safer route for VW to go. The last thing they need to be doing on a brand new model is trying to find some workaround with a retrofit.
Thanks for all the welcomes guys and I appreciate your insight @Arne. At least the delay is going to give me some time to play around with the configurator. Pleasantly surprised to see such decent real world fuel economy in such a large car.

I suggest you also give a serious look at those first drive reviews because not always will those configurators and information provided by the car maker tell you everything you need to know.

Nothing compares to first hand experience.
