Hi, I'm Jim I just took advantage of the TDI buy back, on my 2015 MK7 Golf, and put the money in savings for a down payment on a new Arteon when it becomes available. I just wish the TDI version was going to be available here in the US, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, sometimes the trims and variants we want doesn't make it to the North America market for some reason. But at least the standard Arteon is still packing enough to satisfy your needs.

What are you most excited about?

I guess I'm excited about the whole package, I think it is going to be a lot of car for the money. I am most interested in the top hp version with awd.

The 280PS 2.0TSI petrol model may not be TDI, but there's still plenty of power behind it. The Arteon is supposed to start hitting showroom floors before the end of the year, so hopefully we'll get to see them in real life. I'm hoping to test drive one before deciding.

These days there's less powertrain loss so that will help in getting more power to the wheels from that engine. Years ago it would have been more of a concern. Its just too bad that car makers don't publish various power numbers like power to the flywheel, power to crank, power to wheels, etc.

Since the Arteon is on the same platform as my Golf was, I think it should be pretty sweet. The only thing that may change my mind is price.

only think I hope we get from the Golf is how nimble it was because if theres anything a big sedan can get its that, nothing else matters to me that much because all that other stuff is simpler.

Not only is the Golf nimble, but it rides very good for a small car, so the Arteon should have excellent ride and handling for a car it's size. I'm hoping for close to Golf R performance with more luxury, and convenience. If it doesn't deliver that for a reasonable price, then I will buy a Golf R.

Not in America it won't. Don't expect to see any Arteon's here (assuming that's where you're referring to) until well into summer 2018. That's straight from VWOA.

I have a feeling that even when it arrives there will be people that will look at the arteon and then just think about going for Audi. Already seen it happen with the Jetta, some just go for an A4.
