UK Arteon Pricing Starts From £34,305

Volkswagen has revealed UK launch pricing and specifications for the new Arteon, a new flagship model to rival BMW’s 4 Series Gran Coupe and it starts from £34,305 with fees and taxes included.

"This new flagship model represents a significant step forward in design, technology and, indeed, aspiration and we are confident that the Arteon will more than meet the high expectations of our customers," said marketing exec, Geraldine Ingham.

His confidence is certainly not misplaced when VW’s new five-seater is a balanced blend comfort, technology and a sportiness. Those in the UK can choose from a wide range of engine options though more will be released later on.

At launch the Arteon will be offered with three turbocharged engines, two diesels and a petrol unit. No exact date has been mentioned, but later down the road a 150 PS 1.5-liter TSI petrol and 190 PS 2.0-liter TSI engine will be available. All engines will come with automated DSG dual clutch 7-speed gearboxes, though the more powerful 280 PS 2.0 TSI and 240 PS 2.0 TDI options will also have 4MOTION all-wheel drive as a standard feature.

Those who want a more luxury focused Arteon can opt for the Elegance trim or if you’re more sport minded, there’s the R-Line variant. Or maybe you’d like to go stock, which is fine thanks to a long list of standard equipment including an 8" touchscreen display with Discover Navigation system, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 18" alloy wheels, LED self-leveling headlights, LED tinted rear lights with dynamic indicators, Nappa leather upholstery, driver assist and more.

The ordering books may be open right now, but don’t expect to see an Areton on your local showroom floor until next month.

regardless of how they price it, how sales of this compare with the 4 series gran coupe will be interesting. in a way the gran coupes will help Arteon sales, often it takes an attractive car maker like BMW to take a segment of vehicle to new heights, but can the Arteon scoop up a good amount of sales?

There's heavy competition in a segment that seems to be on the decline so it's hard to say if the Arteon will take a sizable portion of that market. As much as I like the Arteon, a lot of people would rather go the German route.

It's always hard to tell how a new vehicle will sell without seeing the numbers although something like this does have a historical track record we can look at.

I want to say it will do well but truth is we will have to wait for those numbers. This could be a real flip or a complete flop for them.

VW will need to properly advertise the Arteon and maybe be a bit more generous with discounts and throw in some presents. The brand name is known, yes, but VW does have the diesel scandal hanging over them too.

that's great but often when what you can get being good or bad is clear then that could be enough to get people on board, its why some products take off right away with little marketing. VW has a history of not resonating with the American public, hopefully this doesn't follow down the same path.

And here I thought VW was a German brand?

I'm so used to saying German brand and have it encompass BMW and Mercedes. :P But yes, VW too.
I see so many BMWs and Mercedes around, but not so much VW.

In a way you have seen them in the form of Audi's and going forward you will see more Audi influence in VW's. Much like what other brands have done, VW will do the same. Its when Toyota brought more Lexus DNA that they improved... and that's just one example.

VW owns quite a few premium brands though Audi is a better candidate to borrow features from, but they will have a hard time breaking into the circle that is Audi, BMW, and mercedes benz.
