New VW Arteon From The Driverís POV

Like all new models, automotive reviewers are the first to get their hands one and the new Volkswagen Arteon is no different. Youtuber Johan De Haes was able to test drive an Arteon and he did so in a first person point of view.

Not a word was spoken throughout the test drive, but perhaps we don’t really need an in depth explanation from him because the lack of dialogue made it easier for us to hear how quiet the cabin is.

We could hear the hum of the 4 cylinder 1.968 TDI SCR diesel engine upon acceleration, sending 150hp and 340 Nm of maximum torque to its front wheels. Combined with a 7-speed DSG7 automatic transmission and the car can spring from 0-100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 220 km/h.

Painted in Pyrit Silver and paired with Titanium upholstery, his test car is priced at 50,225 Euro, though the starting price of a VW Arteon Elegance in Belgium is 42,820 Euro. The extra cost may have gone towards the Lane Assist and automated parking systems, which seems to have performed smoothly. Splurging on the Elegance version will tack on some additional premium features including Alcantara/leather heated seats with contrast stitching, 18-inch Muscat alloys and more.

Once on sale, the VW Arteon will rival the likes of Audi’s A5 Sportback and the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe.

Is the digital gauge cluster customize-able like the one in audi? So you can have the navigation on display there instead of just on the side infotainment screen.

Wouldn't doubt it. This is a great video though. Love the frameless windows on this but that steering wheel is going to need to get a bit sportier. That huge sunroof is great though.

It just better not leak since frameless windows have been guilty of that in the past. Not always is better design better for functional design. Then there the concern someone could easily break in.

Frame or no frame, if someone wants to break into your car, it's happening. The framing on the window really doesn't make that much of a difference at all.

I would highly doubt it leaking as well as we're in 2017, not 1990.

If you have a frameless window and it's leaking, and it's a new car, take it back to the dealer because somethings clearly wrong.
