2018 VW Arteon From Every Angle

In celebration of the 2018 Arteonís launch earlier this month, Volkswagen has released a 94 picture spread of their new premium Gran Turismo. Not only are we treated to the usual exterior and cabin shots, thereís even a few close up pictures of the four wheel options and the carís spacious trunk.

Sitting on VWís MQB platform, the Arteon will initially be offered with six petrol and diesel engines. On the petrol side if a 148 horsepower 1.5-litre TSI unit, followed by a 2.0-litre TSI engine tuned to produce 187hp or 276hp depending on the trim. Then thereís the 2.0-litre TDI diesel which is offered in 148hp, 187hp and 236hp versions. The most powerful petrol and diesel models will come with 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard.

Buyers will be able to choose from three trim levels once the ordering books are open: Arteon, Arteon R-Line and Arteon Elegance.

No matter the trim, all three will come with a laundry list of standard features including LED headlights and taillights, LED daytime running lights, Keyless Go, stainless steel door tread plates, Composition audio system with eight speakers and auxiliary-USB ports, Driver Alert system and Progressive Steering, an electronically controlled climate system and more.

One level up is the R-Line which focuses on increasing the Arteonís sportiness with high-gloss black front air intakes, leather covered sports steering wheel, Alcantara upholstered heated seats, a set of 18-inch Sebring alloy wheels, bespoke R-Line bumpers, chrome-plated tailpipes, etc.

The Elegance trim is focused on giving the Arteon a more premium feel by adding chrome wing mirror caps, LED taillights with dynamic indicator function, Alcantara upholstered heated seats with contrast stitching, 18-inch Muscat alloys and more.

The Arteon will go on sale in Europe later this year with a U.S. debut to follow. In the meantime, you can view the whole gallery on CarScoops.

Can't wait to see these at the dealerships and finally get to take one for a test drive. I'm sure it won't be anything short of satisfying but I'm just hoping the suspension setup and handling are all on par.

same here, im a bit 50/50 about that grille though. hopefully on higher end trims they look into changing it, much to the extent that Lexus and MB have been doing for a number of years now.

Yeah, I'm kind of back and forth on the grille as well. It's passable, but I think all of those slats are a bit over-kill on it. The aftermarket should come through with a solution though hopefully.

Blacking out the grille will be my primary way to go about it, just as long as a black Arteon looks good in person. Just imaging how it will look, this should get me the right amount of sinister styling I'm after.

I think the grille would definitely look a lot better blacked out for most paint options with how it's designed on the Arteon, not just with black body paint. Even white would look great with a blacked out grille.

It would set them up perfectly for even getting some carbon fiber bars in the design since there's always room for that sort of thing in a design that allows for more. They better not let this opportunity go to waste.

Doubt they would offer carbon fiber bars for the grille simply due to costs, but plasti dip would be good enough. Just going to be a pain to remove the grille for spraying. Maybe VW themselves will change the grille color depending on the trim.

They can do it in ways that won't cost too much, like making a partial carbon fiber grille where the CF is in areas that create the greatest visual appeal. Often when that's done they can keep cost down along with impressing most people with the money for it.
